Volunteer Shifts
Shift 1
Volunteer Assignment: Parade set-up
Time: 2:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Location: East Lansing - Hannah Community Center/corner of Abbot and Burcham Roads
Description/Duties May Include:
- Assist with parade set-up
- Chalking streets
Shift 2
Volunteer Assignment: Parade staging
Time: 3:30/4 - 7/7:30 p.m. depending on assignment
Location: East Lansing - Hannah Community Center on the corner of Abbot and Burcham Roads
Description/Duties May Include:
- VIP vehicle staging
- VIP Welcome Center
- Volunteer check-in
- Parade entry check-in
- Parade entry staging
- High school band arrival
- High school band staging
Shift 3
Volunteer Assignment: Parade marshal
Time: 5:15 - 8 p.m.
Location: East Lansing and MSU Campus, along parade route
Description/Duties May Include:
- Maintain parade flow
- Prevent people from running, walking, or crossing into the street
Shift 4
Volunteer Assignment: End of parade and post-parade
Time: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Location: MSU campus - end of parade (Farm and Shaw Lane, Central Services Building)
Description/Duties May Include:
- Escorting high school bands to post parade staging
- Spartan Marching Band lunches distribution
- Sign retrieval
- End of parade safety/parade flow
- Directing parade participants to shuttle buses
Shift 5
Volunteer Assignment: Police intersection
Time: 5:30 - 8 p.m.
Location: Downtown East Lansing and MSU campus between Spartan Stadium and Central Services Building
Description/Duties May Include:
- Assist the East Lansing Police Department with street closures
